Why Start This Wacky Store?

Well this store was created for the sole purpose of becoming a Customer Success Guru for Shopify.

You may be asking yourself why I've decided to become a Guru and let me tell you - there are a lot of answers to that question. So go grab yourself a snack, maybe a delicious beverage and a comfy sweater because we may be here for a while.

Let's start with people.

I like 'em.

I like talking to 'em and I like helping 'em.  I've been doing it for years.

The secret to a happy life is fulfillment. At least for me it is. I learned this pretty young and it has always been true for me. This has always meant finding a job or career that involves helping someone else with some aspect of their life.  Those jobs are almost always the most fun and they offer real, personal, human interaction.  I like knowing that I put a smile on someone's face when I go to bed at night.

Helping one of your merchants find growth opportunities to make actual money would be right up my alley for two reasons; I like helping people and I want to learn how to run a business myself.

I have been searching for a way to create passive (or semi-passive) income for myself using the onlines, googles or interwebs and working for a company that assists people who do this on a daily basis would be the absolute best scenario for me.  Not only would I be trained on how to run a store, but I would be assisting other people, who would make real money online, to become more successful because of the things I've learned. It's a win-win!

On top of all of that, I have a great deal of experience with this kind of job.  I have worked in telecommunications as a customer service representative, a retention specialist and a complaints and escalated resolutions specialist over the last 6 years.  I have learned how to discuss money and bills with customers, how to calm angry customers down, how to explain difficult concepts to customers and, most importantly, how to talk to people like they're human.

I'm pretty good at it too! Everyone likes doing what they're good at, right?!

Take all of the above and add to it the fact that I have just started learning HTML, CSS and Javascript on my own because I like all these fancy internet tools we use on a daily basis and I want to be able to build a website, develop an app or create a video game.  At the very least I want to have a complete understanding of how they function because our world revolves around these things.

Working for a company that has a strong technical side to it, is perfect for me.  It will encourage me to learn more and learn quicker.  Inside of the next 12 months, I want to be a front-end web wizard! I think this company would be great for keeping me on track and inspired to learn so I can reach my goals.

Finally, I want to work for the best company in whatever field I work in. Shopify has been one of the fastest growing companies on the continent for the last 5 years and they're a Canadian company. How could I not want to work for them?!

They've worked with other business champions (one of whom happens to be the creator of the company I currently work for) to encourage new growth and prosperity in the e-commerce world with the build a business competition, they have edged out major competitors (looking at you Amazon) and continue to excel in every aspect of the field. This is definitely where I want to be.

Also, I like the idea of not having to commute to work in the mornings and beavers are rad!

Cheers,

Andrew
